Both The Wrap and Rolling Stone have gotten confirmation that Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and comedian turned actress Amy Schumer are currently working on a screenplay in which both plan to star as sisters in the lead roles.
Yesterday, Lawrence was speaking to The New York Times promoting her new film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 when the subject was brought up. “We play sisters. We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now,” Lawrence said. Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago.”
The rumours of the budding friendship between the two ladies has been a topic of discussion after photos of the two vacationing together went viral. Lawrence told the Times that she and Schumer have only been friends for a short while.
It seems that the friendship was instantaneous as the pair have begun on a filmmaking journey. Of course, no word about an actual filming date has been released since it’s unlikely that any studios have been approached about the potential project. But if Lawrence and Schumer decide to turn this script into a movie, it seems that fans and studio execs will be delighted given Lawrence’s star power and the success Schumer has been receiving for her work on Trainwreck.
