Yes, you read that correctly. The most recently released IT film by Stephen King filmed a scene that was simply too gross to be shown in theaters. The scene in question, which was going to be an origin scene for Pennywise, had him eating an infant baby, with full sound effects.
Just writing that sentences feels wrong, so I could imagine how it would have been filming. Actually watching it in a movie theater would have been pretty difficult, and I can watch some nasty stuff. The scene was revealed by Bloody Disgusting after a recent interview with Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgard. The script went like this:
She’s shaking, doesn’t want to let go. Behind her, the Door OPENS. A Little Boy, 6, asks — BOY: Mama? ABIGAIL: NO! OUT! NOW! Frightened by his mother, the Boy runs. Abigail turns back to Pennywise. Wherever he may be now in the room. The light somehow seems to spin faster now. She kisses her baby and sets it down. It BAWLS. ABIGAIL: I’m sorry, I’m so sorry… She turns away from the baby. Faces those dying embers. We keep on her face as they seem to begin GLOWING BRIGHTER AS — OVER HER SHOULDER — OUT OF FOCUS — Pennywise crawls over to the Baby and starts to feast. SHARP CRY FROM THE BABY CUT OFF as we hear a CRUNCH. Abigail continues to look into the BRIGHT ORANGE GLOW of not the flickering fire… but the DEADLIGHTS. Her expression changing. Fear. Denial. Grief. Acceptance. And then nothing. Just a glazed look
There is actually more to the scene, and the entirety of it can be found on Bloody Disgusting. It gets more in-depth with Pennywise speaking with the mother, and it takes place in the 1600s. It shows how the King of all evil clowns got his start.
It is kind of ironic that they chose not to even think about filming the pedophiliac orgy scene from the book, but thought baby eating was totes cool. Luckily, this didn’t make theaters because you can bet your bottom dollar that people would have freaked the hell out. What do you think of this scene? Let us know below.
