Star Wars; The Last Jedi will finally reveal what happened after the conclusion of Return of the Jedi. By this point, we all know that Kylo Ren is Ben Solo. He is Han and Leia’s daughter and also Luke’s nephew. The Last Jedi will focus on why Hamill fled the order, only to be found years later by Rey in The Force Awakens.
Hamill spoke with Entertainment Weekly recently, and commented on the mistake he made with Kylo as a child.
“[Luke] made a huge mistake in thinking that his nephew was the chosen one, so he invested everything he had in Kylo, much like Obi-Wan did with my character, and he is betrayed, with tragic consequences. Luke feels responsible for that. That’s the primary obstacle he has to rejoining the world and his place in the Jedi hierarchy, you know? It’s that guilt, that feeling that it’s his fault, that he didn’t detect the darkness in him until it was too late.”
It’s ironic that emotion, which Jedi are supposed to be immune to, is what plagued both Obi-Wan and Luke. The last trait that one would use to describe Luke is fearful. If Luke was so powerful, why did he leave in the first place? Why not just stay and try and defeat the New Order of dark Jedi? Well, Director Rian Johnson discussed how this is the largest part of The Last Jedi
“We know that he is not a coward. He’s not just hiding because he’s scared. But we also know that he must know his friends are in danger. He must know the galaxy needs him. And he’s sitting on this island in the middle of nowhere. There had to be an answer. It had to be something where Luke Skywalker believes he’s doing the right thing – and the process of figuring out what that is and unpacking it is the journey for Rey.”
The Last Jedi releases this December, and it has already been revealed that the word “Jedi” is plural in this case. Therefore, we know Rey is going to become a Jedi after her training with Luke on the abandoned island with nobody else around. In other words, it is the same plot so far as Empire Strikes Back. Hopefully, Rey is not Luke’s daughter. It just seems too cliche at this point. We’ll have to wait and see, but let us know below what you think of Luke’s revelation about Kylo.
I can’t be the only one who hopes Kylo force chokes Rey, right? C’mon you can admit it. It’s ok
